The Three Wise Men were led through the star of Bethlehem to Jesus: Caspar (Treasurer), Melchior (My king is Light) and Balthasar (Protect his life). The wise men from the Orient brought gifts to the child: Gold, incense and myrrh.
On Epiphany Day the star singers traditionally go from house to house and write C + M + B on every door. The letters don‘t stand for the names of the kings, but for Christus mansionem benedicat. It means Christ bless this house.
The Feast of the Epiphany marks the end of the roaring nights.
